I’ll keep this particular review short and sweet… I LOVE a good romance novel, and this one definitely hits the mark. It also had a ton of mystery/suspense in it, which made this an even more enjoyable read. I’ve read a handful of Nicholas Sparks’ novels, as well as seeing a couple of films that were adapted from the books, though this particular book is my favorite- as of today! I love how Sparks added huge suspense into the story, while still unraveling the love story between Colin and Maria. Reading how the two came about was super cute, and periodically I’d find myself just smiling at certain scenes in the book, rooting for the two of them- while the suspenseful parts had me on edge with the various twists and turns. Another thing I loved was how Sparks created two characters from totally different ethnic backgrounds and cultures (Maria being Mexican and Colin being White.) Excited to see the love story with hopefully a black a character one day! (Fingers crossed… unless there is one that I have yet to get to!) -Nina Michelle
