“Loathe to Love You” by Ali Hazelwood

So this book was a compilation of three separate smaller stories (novellas) that all tied together; the love story of three women who were best-friends, and how they came to be with their significant others.

Overall, I would give this a 3.5/5 stars; though I did really like Mara and Liam’s story the most (the first novella- “Under One Roof”) I would give that story individually a 4.5/5. Erik and Sadie (the second novella- “Stuck with You”) were cute, but their story wasn’t as memorable. And Ian and Hannah (the third novella- “Below Zero”) I just felt like didn’t have enough of a story- though it had more of a plot and backstory than the second. with all of these, I would have loved for more backstory and details- probably just as much as the characters were given in “The Love Hypothesis” and “Love On the Brain”- just to REALLY get the readers to fall in love with them.

As a whole, I didn’t LOVE these, but I still really, really liked them; I still stand with the Ali Hazelwood fan-club, and a super-fan of the cute and witty rom-com novels. It’s just my hang up with these were, they seemed a little redundant and pretty much the same. The characters were very, very similar, minus the hair and eye color- and they had different, but still vaguely similar jobs. I think what didn’t help is I’ve read literally ALL of Ali’s books within the last 5 days- and that probably didn’t aide, with all of the character and plot similarities. Also, during the “spice” scenes- every single time, it was an issue of the last minute, “Do you have a condom? Well it’s okay- I’m on the pill.” Just having different scenarios would have made this even better.

They were cute stories, and were still witty & humorous, while being romantic at the right times- I just wish they weren’t so similar to one another… But I’ll still be checking out her newest book “Love Theoretically” when it releases in June!
