That Sik Luv, by Jescie Hall

This book will DEFINITELY test your limits and sanity.

We start off with Briony, who is this sweet, innocent church girl. And is being stalked by Aero who is the opposite in everyway.... until Briony begins to find herself and really discover who she really is. With Aero helps, which initially seems super sketch and shady, she also begins to realize just how slimy some of the men in the church organization are.

At first upon reading my thoughts about Aero were- unhinged, dark, forceful, and manipulative. But as the novel progresses- we began to see he's actually smart as hell and really just trying to bring Briony out of her shell, while still seeking his revenge at the same time.

Once she moves past her hesitations and begins to see things for what they really are, the two of them together are quite the storm. They passion to emit and the trust is on another level.

Both of their backstories REALLY makes you understand why they are the way they are, especially Aero (the things he went through, as a mom, if that was my son- tables would be getting flipped, and I'm saying that politely.) and what Briony learns of herself along the way, truly brings out the "badass" in her. Which we come to see has always been there, but needs a little fine tuning.

This book has very dark tones to it, speaks on sensitive topics that go on in some churches, contains a lot of spice. All the makings for an entertaining read.

My book club chose this for our January Book of the Month, and I wasn't disappointed in the least bit. Jescie Hall delivers intensity, questionable practices and moral, and true/raw passion.
