The Dracula Duet, by Karina Halle

any and everyone who really know me, know i don’t do most horror movies… AT ALL. no haunted houses, no jump scare games, none of it. BUT i do love reading dark gothic/horror romances. (probably because i can control the visual and what i want it to be.)

and i do love a good vampire romance story, especially when i know it ties into Dracula somehow. and with Blood Orange and Black Rose… Karina Halle definitely delivered. don’t we just love when the “villain” gets a happily ever after as well?

Valtu and Dahlia’s story was poetic, dark, edgy, and heartbreaking at [most] times. i felt devastated for Valtu throughout majority of these books, because i felt like he just want to love her, but couldn’t catch a break. i do love that Dahlia was soft around him, but otherwise stood on her own and wasn’t with the nonsense.

the first book (Blood Orange) seemed a little more action-packed, while the second (Black Rose), seemed more about them really discovering each other, and peeling back the layers. we do get some action and resolve at the end of this duet.

i’m so grateful that i discovered Karina’s books through bookstagram- because i am completely hooked now! (and currently starting Hollow 💕
